Charlene Wyly, 86, of Amarillo passed away November 24, 2020.

Charlene was born February 16, 1934 in San Antonio, TX to Dick and Tillie Van Klaveren and comes from a long lineage of milk farmers and paper mills in Holland. Her grandfather sold his dairy farm to buy way to The United States on a boat. She worked for Amarillo ISD for a number of years and always enjoyed seeing the children. She loved to sew and when her children were young, she often sewed their clothing with beautiful vibrant and unique fabric. She religiously read her Bible and would gladly witness and teach anyone about the scripture on any given day. Charlene was a doll collector and kept any trinkets or keepsakes from family functions for memorabilia. She was the sweetest, loving, most gentle, kindred, soft spoken spirit and she loved her family with everything she had.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother; 3 sisters; her first husband, Joe Glen Montgomery; and her second husband, David Wyly.

Charlene is survived by three daughters, Madelene Chavez (Art), Sherrie Jacobson (Nick) and Trisha Golden; five grandchildren, Brandon Ammons (Rick), Sarah Weathers, Chelsea Henderson (Brady), Tyler Jacobson, and Haley Dahl; and eight great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Travis, Austin, Kanton, Weston, Tripp, Kip, and Annistyn.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Susan G. Komen in Charlene’s name, she was a breast cancer survivor.
