Darlene (Dennis) Cotten passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021 at age 79 in Amarillo, Texas. She was born on November 21, 1941 in Hedley, Texas to A.M. and Lillie Mae (Johnson) Dennis. She graduated from Pampa High School and married Bobby Lee Cotten on November 28, 1959 In Pampa, Texas. She worked many years for SIC in Amarillo as a key punch operator and then worked alongside husband Bobby Lee at Strauss Frank Automotive Company in Amarillo, as an accounting clerk until her retirement.
She enjoyed growing up in Wellington Texas, with her friend Judy, writing poems, cooking during the holidays, going on road/fishing trips with Bobby Lee, raising her two children , Leigh and Vernon and talking into the late hours of the night with her brothers/sisters during their visits back to the Panhandle. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life, and they loved their granny.
Darlene was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church in Pampa and Amarillo for over 60 years, and was preceded in death by an infant son, Bryan Euvene Cotten, husband of 45 years Bobby Lee Cotten, sisters Mae Dale Conner, Clara Dean (Deanie) Dennis, Wilma Parks and her parents A.M. and Lillie Mae Dennis.
She is survived by a daughter, Leigh (Cotten) Chacon and husband Johnny of Amarillo, a son Vernon Cotten and wife Amy of The Woodlands, Texas, along with four grandchildren, Morgan Chacon Henry and husband Joe of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brennan Cotten, Bailey Cotten, and Braden Cotten of The Woodlands, Texas, and siblings Barbra Grissom, Dwight (Whitey) Dennis and wife Kathy, Pat McCain and husband Danny, Aldo Dennis, and brothers-in-law Buster Parks, and Layne Conner.
Darlene holds dear the promise that she is sleeping along side Bobby Lee, while they wait for the final trumpet call of Jesus, as found in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-“For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the Archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first."
