Darrol Gene Childers

Darrol Gene Childers, 79, of Amarillo died June 9, 2021.

Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2021 in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Darrol was born November 26, 1941 in Jacobia, TX to Harvey Childers and Bonnie Fae (Donoho) Childers. Darrol owned his own business in Amarillo, serving the Ag Industry in the Southwest for over 40 years. He loved music and was a self-taught musician. He could play any instrument he picked up and loved a good jam session. Darrol never met a stranger and had a genuine interest in those he met. He had a love for classic cars and was a drag racing enthusiast. Darrol was an avid golfer who enjoyed watching the game as much as playing it. Nothing was more important to Darrol than his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Bonnie Childers; brothers, Bill Childers, Weldon Childers, and Roy Childers; and granddaughter, Aspen Childers.

Darrol is survived by his children, Kimberly Christine Childers of Amarillo, TX, Darla J. Keller and husband Todd of College Station, TX, and Darrol G. Childers, II and wife Mandy of Amarillo, TX; sister, Sheryl Sims and husband Roger of Red Oak, TX; brother, Gaylon Childers and wife, Darla of Dike, TX; grandchildren that are his pride and joy, Grant Topper Keller, Bristol Keller, BayLee Ornelas, Elexi Norton, Paige Keller, Brook’lynn Keller, and Falyn Childers; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
