Earl Joy

Earl Joy, 88, of Amarillo died June 1, 2021.

Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Schooler Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 4, 2021 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Earl was a loving husband, father and grandpa; he lived for his family. He was very caring and giving to all those around. Even though your heart is breaking and tears are clouding your eyes, and staining your cheeks, God does give us something worth trusting in tough times; and that is Him, and Him alone. When your heart is breaking, you can place your hope and trust in God.

Earl is survived by son, Kenny Joy and wife Kathy Joy; daughter, Judy Houdyshell and husband Sam; 4 grandchildren that will cherish the memories of their “Papa” spoiling them; Kyle Joy and wife Katie Joy, Kevin Joy and wife LeaAnn Joy, Spencer Houdyshell and Sydney Houdyshell. He was blessed to have shared his love with 6 great-grandchildren, Avery Joy, Cooper Denny, Addisyn Joy, Fynlea Joy, Harper Joy, and Cru Barton.

From 1959-1995, Earl worked in several different departments at Pantex and in 1996 retired from the Pantex Fire Department. He also retired several times from United Supermarkets, he was always working!

“Papa” was devoted to sharing his love and life with all of his family. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren stole his heart. There was always a part of his heart that was with those who preceded him in death; his loving wife, Betty Joy; his precious angel, Karen Joy whom they dedicated their lives to; 2 granddaughters, Kristin Joy and Kalee.
