Elizabeth "Betty" Wilson

Elizabeth “Betty” Wilson, 90, of Amarillo passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Trinity Baptist Church, 1601 I-40 W. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Betty was born March 12, 1928 in Electra, Texas to Leonard Franklin Davis and Zina Mae Plummer.

She attended schools in Iowa Park, Texas and graduated from Iowa Park High School in 1945. Betty married Joe Wilson on June 7, 1946. She worked as a Trust Officer at Panhandle Bank of Trust in Borger where she met a deaf co-worker and was then inspired to learn Sign Language. She interpreted for church services and went on to teach others the skill of signing for 50 years.

Betty was very active with the youth at Trinity Baptist Church where she was a member and became an SOS advisor which helps others to better themselves. Betty’s mission in life was to serve others. Her home was nicknamed “Wilson Hilton” because you never knew who would be staying there. She took in many people through her lifetime and helped them get back on their feet. Serving people and her God was her passion.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Leonard and Zina; daughter, Alice Joann Freeman; and 2 brothers, El Roy Boutwell and Leonard F. Davis, Jr.

Betty is survived by her husband, Joe Wilson; daughter, Phyllis Cianfrani and husband, John of Waco; son, James Wilson and wife, Marie of Georgetown; sister, Mary Ann Ezzell and husband, Jim of Wichita Falls; 6 grandchildren, Shannon West and wife, Michelle, Ashley Wilson and wife, Bonnie, JoDee Wilson, Micah Freeman and wife, Sheila, Jared Freeman, and DeeAnn Smith and husband, Austin; and 6 great grandchildren, Hayden West and wife, Kayt, Lilly West, Samuel Wilson, Colten Freeman, Lucas Freeman and Baily Freeman.
