Eugene Earl Henderson

January 31, 1938 — June 4, 2017

Eugene E. Henderson, 79, of Amarillo died Sunday, June 4, 2017.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Church of Christ at the Colonies, 4500 Wesley Road.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Eugene was born January 31, 1938 in Samnorwood, TX to Donald and Viola Henderson. He graduated from McLean High School in 1956. He married Glenda Dewey in Amarillo on January 31, 1959.

Eugene proudly served in the National Guard and then the Army Reserves.  He worked in the auto parts industry for 30 years and then retired after 11 years from the Department of Human Services. He was a member of Church of Christ At The Colonies.  He loved trout fishing, traveling and watching the Dallas Cowboys and was also a history buff.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Glenda Henderson, a daughter, Kimberly Woodrome and her husband Charles; sister, Shirley McClasky and brothers, Jimmy Henderson and Billy Henderson.

Survivors include his son, Scotty Henderson and wife Joy of Abilene; sisters, Peggy Sechrist and husband Sonny of Yukon, OK., Sandra Grisham and husband Vance, Linda Rodgers and husband Bob all of Amarillo, Cynthia Pollock and husband Andy of Basehor, KS; a brother, Roger Henderson of Amarillo; and brother-in-law, Doug McClasky of Grand Junction, CO.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and his special friend Bette Hugg of Amarillo.

His family asks that memorials be to High Plains Children’s Home, 11461 South Western, Amarillo, TX. 79118.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the funeral home.
