Forrest Jones, Jr.

Forrest Jones Jr., 77 of Amarillo died May 31, 2018.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Church of Christ at The Colonies with Mr. Dick Marcear as officiant.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Forrest was born March 1, 1941 in Amarillo to Forrest Sr. and Emily Jones.  He graduated from Amarillo High in 1959.  After graduation, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam, serving on the U.S.S. Providence.  When he returned, he went to West Texas State and graduated in 1968 with a B.A. in History.  In 1966, he met the love of his life Lynda Huffaker at the bowling alley and in 1967 they were married.  He owned and operated Jones Paint Company for over 40 years.  Forrest loved to hunt and fish and especially enjoyed sharing these hobbies with friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Forrest is survived by his wife, Lynda; his son, Gary Jones and wife, Mandy of Berkeley, CA; his daughter, Amy Jones and husband, Cody of Canyon; his sisters, Carolyn Jones and Margaret Nelson and husband, Tom, all of Amarillo; his brother, Alan Jones and wife, Vicki of Port Isabel; and his grandchildren, Emily Lynn Calvin and husband, Tre and Seth Jones.

The family requests that memorials may be made to the High Plains Children’s Home or to Meals on Wheels of Amarillo.
