Frieda "Fritzie" Berk

Frieda “Fritzie” Berk, 95, passed away on November 19, 2017 in Lubbock.

Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel.  Inurnment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., Amarillo.

Mrs. Berk was born on April 6, 1922 in New York City, New York to Charles and Sadie Blank. She attended New York University and then went to Fashion Institute to study Fashion Designing. She worked as a Fashion Designer in New York. Frieda loved doing oil paintings and portraits.  She retired to Delray Beach, Florida in 1980 with her husband. During her retirement in Florida, she joined a theatre arts group where she sang and danced in their performances. Frieda and Sidney moved to Amarillo in 2002, and lived at the Craig Retirement Center. Mr. Berk passed away in 2006 and Frieda moved to Raider Ranch in Lubbock to live near her son Dr. Steven Berk and his family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Berk; her parents, Charles and Sadie Blank; and her brother, Robert Blank.

Frieda is survived by two sons, Dr. Steven Berk and wife Shirley of Lubbock and Dr. Marc Berk and wife Helene of Bethesda, MD; a granddaughter, Rachel Otterson and husband Thomas of Silver Springs, MD; three grandsons, Joseph Berk of Philadelpha, PA, Jeremy Berk and wife Jen of Natick, MA. and Dr. Justin Berk of Baltimore, MD; two great-grandddaughters, Annalise Clare Otterson and Maya Sydney Berk; a niece, Shari Rabinowitz and husband Sam; and a nephew, Ralph Blank and wife Mary Louise.
