Ida Josephine Kuhles Neusch

December 15, 1929 — January 2, 2021

Ida Josephine Kuhles was born on December 15, 1929 in Happy, Texas to John and Gertrude Kuhles.

She graduated high school from St. Mary’s Academy in May 1948 in Amarillo, TX and married Arnold Neusch on July 5, 1949 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Amarillo, TX.

She helped Arnold farm in the early years until the kids were old enough to work.  Later Ida worked in the ASCS (Agriculture Stabilization & Conservation Service).

Ida was a 4-H leader for over 24 years and was a member of the Sunnyside Home Demonstration Club.

She was a very active parishioner at St. Francis Catholic Church.  She became a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church when she moved to Canyon later in life.

She loved spending time doing needle work, sewing, setting puzzles, and reading books.  Ida loved listening to music and dancing which she passed along to her children.  Ida enjoyed watching big snowflakes float gently to the ground.

Once Ida and Arnold retired, they spent the summers in Colorado.  She loved the mountains, outdoors, fishing, watching wildlife, especially deer, elk and birds.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents John and Gertrude Kuhles; son, Larry Neusch; and sister, Eugenia Bryant.

She is survived by her husband Arnold of 71 years and their children: Son, Ronnie and wife Linda of Panhandle, TX; daughter Sandy and husband Norman Sanders and son, John and wife Karla all of Amarillo, TX; daughter Darlene and husband Fidelis Fetsch, Jr. of Canyon, TX; and daughter Nancy Neusch of Hereford, TX; sister, Liz Daniels of Jackson, MS; She had 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren with one more on the way in June.

She loved all her children’s and grandchildren’s spouses as if they were her own.  She loved her many godchildren and always prayed for them.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Catholic Charities of the Texas Panhandle, 2801 Duniven Cir., Amarillo, TX 79109 or Snack Pack for Kids, 2406 SW 3rd Ave, Amarillo, TX 79106.

The family wants to give a special thanks to Dr. Dustin Turner for the wonderful care he gave our Mom.  The family also would like to thank the staff at SkyWest Assisted Living in Canyon for the loving care they gave our mom in her final year of life.  May God bless all of you abundantly.
