James Nolan Pope, 86, of Amarillo died May 22, 2019.
Memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Paramount Baptist Church, 3801 S. Western St. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
James was born November 3, 1932 in Granite, OK to Nolan and Ruby Pope. He graduated from Canyon High School and married Jean Ann Duvall on August 12, 1951. James was a member at Paramount Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon at a previous church and worked many years at Pantex before his retirement.
He enjoyed watching TV and was a huge sports fan of Football and Basketball. James was a Mason, he enjoyed building and built their home. He also loved camping and stream fishing in his spare time.
James is survived by his wife, Jean Ann Pope; children, Gail Harshbarger and husband John, Gary Pope and wife Karen, and Julie Hamilton and husband Joe; 2 sisters, Shirley Crosson and husband Tommy and Geraldine Baughman and husband A.J.; 1 brother, Ralph Pope and wife Patti; grandchildren, John Paul Harshbarger, Amanda Littlejohn, Jennifer Harshbarger, Meredith Grantham, Ryan Pope, Billy Pope, Courtney Stensrud, Jared Chambers, Micah Hamilton, Kiff Hamilton and Kobi Schneider; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to Paramount Baptist Church.
