Joe Junior Wilson, 93, of Amarillo died January 14, 2019.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2019 at Trinity Baptist Church, 1601 I40. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Joe was born January 18, 1925 in Iowa Park, Texas to Cole Younger and Alice Wilson. He was the youngest of 4 boys. Joe attended Texas Tech University. Joe married Elizabeth “Betty” Davis on June 7, 1946 in Iowa Park. He worked in payroll/purchasing for Southwestern Public Service for 40 years before his retirement.

Joe was first ordained a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Borger where they attended for many years before moving to Amarillo. Joe and Betty became active members of Trinity Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and on many committees at church. Joe and Betty’s home was referred to as the “Wilson Hilton”, you never knew who would be there. Family was very important to Joe and in his spare time, he enjoyed the grandkids, fishing and golfing.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Wilson; daughter, JoAnn Freeman; and 3 brothers.

Joe is survived by daughter, Phyllis Cianfrani and husband John of Waco; son, James Wilson and wife Marie of Georgetown; 6 grandchildren, Shanon West and wife Michelle, James Ashley Wilson, JoDee Wilson, Micah Freeman and wife Sheila, Jared Freeman, and Dee Ann Smith and husband Austin; and 7 great-grandchildren, Hayden West and wife Kayt, Lilly West, Samuel Wilson, Colten Freeman, Lucas Freeman, Baily Freeman and Kennedy Freeman.

The family suggest memorials be made to the Mission Fund at Trinity Baptist Church.
