Leona Cunningham

Leona Cunningham, 102, of Amarillo died September 20, 2021.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Leona was born March 5, 1919 in Artesian, SD to Jacob and Cora Turner. Leona after college began teaching elementary education for a small country school in Aiems, KS. She also worked in Portland, OR as a ship fitter helper before her marriage and role of a pastors wife.

Leona’s hobbies were sewing all of her own clothing and cooking meals for her family. She maintained weekly family gatherings where all were fed and never left hungry for years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Keith Cunningham; 2 sisters; and 1 brother.

Leona is survived by Lloyd Cunningham and wife, Shari; Marlene Gary and her husband, Frank; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
