Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 555 E. Hastings Ave. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Leota was born to Harry A. and Dallas Irene McLaughlin in Swifton, Arkansas. Her father was a bridge builder in the road construction industry. The family lived in nearly every little town between Arkansas and New Mexico often for only a day or two.

As an adult, Leota lived in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois, Washington, Mississippi, South Carolina, Bermuda and England. She loved going to new places and seeing new sights. She made close friends everywhere she lived.

Leota was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Mayo and Sonny.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two sisters; Lady Bug Slaughter and Sandra Morton and husband Buck, all of Amarillo; three daughters, Roxie Allison and husband Randy of Oklahoma City, Tonia Pierce of Krum, Texas and Karen Bloodworth and husband Doug of Lady Lake, Florida; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the nursing staff of 1B West at Plum Creek Nursing Home and Interim Hospice, who having lovingly cared for our mother and sister the past two years.
