Marianne Elizabeth (Gerber) Harms

Marianne Elizabeth Harms, age 89, of Amarillo, died November 29, 2021.

A rosary will be said on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel.  The funeral mass will be on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. John Valdez as celebrant. A private, family only, inurnment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. On behalf of everyone’s protection, the family humbly requests that masks be worn at all services. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Marianne was born May 5, 1932 in Dimmitt, Texas to Mathias Joseph Gerber and Bernice Ethel Franklin Gerber.

Marianne could be described as a woman who loved God with all of her heart, soul, mind and strength.  She prayed daily for those she loved, with great joy and concern.  She was a caring, loving mother to her children and a mother figure and mentor to her siblings.  She was the epitome of a loving counselor, guide and caregiver.  She had a gentle spirit and was always eager to listen to those around her.  One of the hallmarks of her life was that she always knew what to do = wisdom.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Joseph Gerber; an infant daughter, Mary Beth Elizabeth; and her husband, Kenneth Wayne Harms Sr.

Marianne is survived by her three daughters, Cindy Luginbill and her husband Jim, of Amarillo; Jeanne Velarde and her husband Nikki, of Amarillo; Lisa Henly and her husband Bill of Dallas; one son, K. Wayne Harms and his wife Jane Dunnewold of Kyle, Texas; six sisters, Gloria Arellano, Helen Rutland, Rosemary Heiselman, Delores Jackson, Margaret Drummond, and Barbara Jones; thirteen grandchildren: Keely Brown, Keats Luginbill, Haley Britten, Justin Martino-Harms, Jenny Harms Link, Lindsey Kaib, Joel McAfee, Rachel Harms Barker, Kami and Nicholas Velarde, Danyelle Hoedebeck, Grant and Billy Henly; and eighteen great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to your chosen charity.
