Mrs. Kearny was born on the family ranch in Fresno, Calif. on August 26, 1921. She graduated from
Edison High School in Fresno. She worked as an accountant for Mr. Edwards in the Hotel Fresno. Her
career was the source of many happy memories and great friendships before she met and married the
love of her life, James T. Kearny on October 18, 1950. She and Jim lived many places across the country
while following his career with Goodyear Tire and Rubber. But they loved their life and friendships in
Amarillo and chose to retire there. Mary and Jim belonged to St. Joseph’s Church, volunteering there
and in the parish school. Mary enjoyed liturgical study and Church Women United. They later were
founding members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where Mary served on the Parish Board
and was a past member of the Altar Guild. Mary was also a member of St. Anthony’s Hospital Auxiliary,
volunteering for over 40 years where she spent many Thursday mornings at the Information Desk with
her dear friend, Karolina Duniven. She also gave her time in the lunchroom at St. Andrew’s Episcopal
School where she could be with her grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, on September 23, 1995; her sisters, Delia DiNatale and
Rose Ford; brothers, Ben Renna and Tom Renna; and priest and very dear friend, Msgr. Joseph Tash.
Survivors include a daughter, Kelly Kearny Roberts and husband Blaine of Amarillo, and their children,
