Patricia Juanita Chavez, 79, of Amarillo passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, September 24, 2022. She leaves behind a legacy of endless love and generosity for all. She is loved dearly by family and friends and will be missed immensely.

Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 11am to 5pm in the Schooler Funeral Home’s Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia in Amarillo. The family will receive guests beginning at 5pm. A rosary and prayer service will follow at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 10am at Blessed Sacrament  Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery.

Patricia was born August 26, 1943, in Amarillo, Texas where she was raised and lived her life. She was the first-born daughter to Frank and Frances (Ortega) Chavez.  She married in 1963 and started a family. Patricia was a loving, devoted mother of four children.

She enjoyed spending time with family and loved cooking and hosting holidays for her loved ones. The family enjoyed her delicious home-cooked meals and her amazing hospitality. Her warm, loving heart was the center of many memorable family celebrations and gatherings. She was very supportive of her children in their endeavors and in the raising of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. To her family she was known lovingly as Grandma Pat.

Patricia worked at the Texas Department of Transportation for 16 years where she retired in 2010 to spend more time with family. Throughout her life, she was warm and welcoming to all with whom she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Frances Chavez. Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Sandra Mendoza and husband, Sergio, Michael Chavez, Amanda Flores and husband, Rey and Christopher Chavez; sister, Vicki Martinez and her husband, Chevy; nieces, Vanessa Ramos and Elena Nguyen; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.
