Pearl (Jenkins) Babcock

December 26, 1923 — February 4, 2023

Amarillo

Pearl Babcock, age 99 of Amarillo entered the gates of Heaven on February 4, 2023.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday evening, February 8 th at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia, from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel. A private burial will be held at the Groom Cemetery in Groom, Texas.

Pearl was born on December 26, 1923, on a farm east of Canyon to her parents John Robert and Luceil McKee Jenkins. She met the young Jack Babcock, and the couple were married in Clarendon on June 20, 1942. That would mark the beginning of a journey that would last the next forty-seven years until Jack’s death in 1989.

The family moved to Amarillo in 1958 from Groom and joined Polk Street United Methodist Church. They were very active in the church and made lifelong friendships. Pearl was very proud of the fact that they were founders of the Homebuilders Sunday School Class.

She worked for Colman Manufacturing for twenty-nine and one-half years, beginning on the assembly lines and retiring in 1995 as office manager.

Pearl had a gentle soul and was a quiet servant to her God, the church and her family. As a child of the depression she was stoic and determined to endure through any of the highes and lows life threw her way.  She was the constant in the family, never wavering and always persevering.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack Babcock, and son, Billy Jack Babcock. She is survived by son, Joe Babcock, and wife, Susan of Amarillo, Granddaughter Carly Reboulet and and her husband Taurell, Grandson Jackson and his wife Trisha, three great-grandchildren, Cora, Brooks and Willa Jane, and Billy Jack's wife Candice.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association, P.O. Box 30424 Amarillo, Texas 79120 or the Youth Department at Polk Street United Methodist Church, 1401 South Polk, Amarillo, Texas 79101
