Phyllis Jean Hurst McGann Evans

Phyllis Jean Hurst McGann Evans, 91, of Amarillo died September 2, 2022.

Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2022 in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Phyllis was born on October 5, 1930, at home in the Oklahoma Panhandle, to Raymond and Beulah Hurst. The family moved around after her birth, from Oklahoma to Arney, the Jowell Community and Happy, Texas. Phyllis married Kenneth McGann February 6, 1951 and was widowed in 1957 after the family was involved in a car accident. She married Tom Evans in November 19, 1958. Phyllis and Tom blended their families and had 10 children between them. They celebrated 40 years of marriage until Tom’s death on December 22, 1998.

She was preceded in death by husbands Kenneth and Tom; parents, Raymond and Beulah Hurst; sons, James, Jerry and Carl Evans; daughters, Ann McGann Murry and Krista Evans Larson; and great grandson, Seton Blaine Oliver.

Survivors include her brother, Shi Hurst; sons, Andy Hutchison and Charles Evans; daughters, Carol Evans Keys, Carla Evans, and Jackie Evans Cordell; 18 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank BSA Hospice doctors, nurses and staff that helped care for Phyllis in her final days.
