Richard "Shane" Perdue

Richard Shane Perdue, 47, passed away on May 30, 2021 in Sydney, Australia after a short battle with cancer.

Celebration of life services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Shane was born April 8, 1974. He grew up in Canyon, Texas and competed in 4H from age 8-18. Shane attended Canyon High School and was in band, Show Choir, and was the editor of the yearbook his senior year (1992). Following graduation, he attended WTSU, later moving to Dallas to work as a french operator. He lived and worked in various places including Austin, New York City, California then moved to Australia in 1999 where he resided becoming a dual citizen.

In Australia, he worked many different jobs including the University of Sydney Office of Financial Affairs. He later worked alongside Dr. Shane Houston in the university’s indigenous department. Dr. Houston and Shane later formed a partnership to work closely with various indigenous communities around the world.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; some cousins; and multiple other relatives.

Shane is survived by his parents, Richard (Dick) and Georgie Perdue; brother, Daniel Shi and wife, Carli; niece and nephew, Hagan and Kylie; birth brother, Shon; birth sister, Shantal; and many other relatives and friends.
