Rickey Lynn Malena

Rickey Lynn Malena, 62, went to be with Jesus on January 11, 2021.

Rickey was born August 12, 1958 in Dimmitt, TX to Les and Marilyn Malena. He attended Palo Duro High School and owned his own painting company, B & M Painting, for 32 years. He married the love of his life, Cindy Sain, on November 10, 1978. They had just celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary.

Rick loved spending time with his family more than anything. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and loved cruising on his Harley. He also had a love for muscle cars and you could often find him and Cindy cruising around in their 1968 Chevelle with the top down. He coached his daughters’ softball teams from the time they were big enough to play and from time to time, he would still run into girls that called him “Coach”.

Rick never met a stranger and EVERYONE he met absolutely loved him. He had a way about him that made everyone he met feel like a friend. He was a very laid back, easy going man, unless you messed with his family. He made countless friends through his business throughout the years and so many people came back to him time and time again for his amazing quality of work. Rick was the rock of the entire family and his absence will be felt by so many, so deeply, for a lifetime.

He is preceded in death by his father, Les Malena; brother, Robert Malena; sister-in-law, Teena Hill; and mother-in-law, Gracie Haddox.

Rick is survived by his wife, Cindy; daughters, Rachel Freeman and husband Rowdy of Amarillo and Vanessa Dickson and husband, Donald of Amarillo; mother, Marilyn Malena of Amarillo; sister, Sue Moody and husband, Randy; three brothers, Floyd Malena and wife, Peggy, Ray Malena and wife, Kathy and David Malena all of Amarillo; a very special nephew, Robert Hill; eight grandchildren that he absolutely adored, Alexandria, Madeline, Zane, Kadie, Gage, Cameron, Beckett, and Paxton; and two great-grandchildren, Ellie and Emma.

The family suggests memorials be made to The American Heart Association in memory of Rick.
