Severo “Victor” Lucero Palacio, 91, of Amarillo, passed away December 14, 2018.
Rosary will be said 6:00 p.m., December 18, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., December 19, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., Amarillo.
Severo married Consuelo Ramirez in Amarillo, Texas in 1948 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
Severo was a Golden Glove Boxing Champion and a skilled carpenter. He worked for Cervin Construction, Reynosa Construction, and Richard Burch Construction before launching his own business of Palacio and Sons. He was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and guitar player for many church services. Severo loved to go fishing with his sons and grandsons. He enjoyed keeping up with the boxing world on TV, as well as watching the New England Patriots and the New York Yankees.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio and Margarita Palacio, his beautiful wife, Consuelo; grandson Jason Contreras, daughter-in-law Michelle Palacio, sister Olivia Quintero, and brother Orlando Palacio.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his brother, Fred Palacio; his children, Victoria and Steve Martinez, Gerald and Faye Palacio, Cindy Garcia, Greg and Velia Palacio, Severo and Andrea Palacio of Houston, TX, Anthony Palacio and John McCabe, Vincent Palacio of Mesquite, TX, Edward and Leticia Palacio, Michele and Sam Murdock, Elaine and Eliseo Pena; 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; his cousin, Andy Palacio, and a host of other cousins.
