Virginia R. Woods

Virginia Ryles Woods, 74, of Amarillo died July 30, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1015 N. Monroe St. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Virginia was born May 4, 1944 in Reid, Texas to Leola Thornton. She worked hard all of her life and retired as a supervisor from Owens Corning Fiberglass Plant in Amarillo. She was a doting grandmother to all of her grandchildren. Virginia loved working in her garden, traveling, and going to casinos.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Woods, Sr.; her mother, Leola Thornton; brother, L.D. Dennis; grandson, Alvin Strong-Woods; and granddaughter, Serena Miller.

Virginia is survived by Minor Irving of Amarillo; 2 daughters, Rosetta Woods and husband, Maurice of Wichita Falls, and Joyce Miller and husband, Michael of Amarillo; 5 sons, Randy Woods and wife, Gwen of Corsicana, Nolan Woods Jr. and wife, Dana of Amarillo, Alvin Woods of Amarillo, Charles Richardson-Woods and wife, Donna of Clarksville, and Kelvin Hodgest and wife, Lamonica of Ft. Worth; 96 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; 20 great great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
