Walter S. Mount, Jr,

Walter Scott Mount, Jr. passed away at the age of 98 on July 10, 2019.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 12, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, 1100 S. Harrison St. Arrangements by Schooler Funeral Home.

Walter was born February 12, 1921 to Walter Scott Mount, Sr. and Harriett Small Mount in Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1938. After 2 years of college at UT and WT, he enlisted in the US Navy V-5 Cadet Pilot Training program. Walter was a Naval Aviator A1 and flew Hellcat Fighter Planes in the South Pacific. He married Marjorie Quaile Mount in Corpus Christi. They moved to Amarillo in 1946 and raised their family.  In 1996, he married Susan Sanford. Together they enjoyed visiting friends in Southern California and making trips to Santa Fe, NM. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge #731 and Khiva Temple.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie Quaile Mount; son Walter Scott (Tres) Mount, III; granddaughter, Tanya Sue Mount; and his second wife, Susan Sanford Mount.

Walter is survived by his son Lawrence Mount and wife, Marilyn; daughter, Marjorie Mount Seewald and husband, Dr. Stanton Seewald; grandchildren, Josh Mount, Aaron Seewald and Kyle Seewald; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be made to Presbyterian Children’s Home, 3400 Bowie St, Amarillo Texas 79109 or charity of your choice.
