William "Bill" C. Mosley

William Carl “Bill” Mosley, age 91, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017) in Amarillo, Texas.

Visitation will be from 6 – 7PM on Monday, August 7, 2017 At Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia St. Amarillo Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10AM, Tuesday August 8, 2017 at the First Christian Church, 3001Wolflin Drive, Amarillo, Texas with the Reverend Jeff Messer and the Reverend John Bridwell officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Llano Cemetery, 2900 South Hayes Street, Amarillo, Texas. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Bill was born in Snyder, Oklahoma to Fred and Grace Mosley on November 28, 1925. After high school, he joined the Navy and served aboard merchant marine ships as a Naval Armed Guard and Signalman. He was a proud veteran of both WWII and the Korean Conflict. Bill was also a member of the Roosevelt, Oklahoma Masonic Lodge #398. Following his military service, on August 30, 1953, he married the love of his life, Dixie Lee Reger.  Together they raised three children, Judy, Clay, and Paul. He attended New Mexico State University and graduated on the Dean’s Honor Roll with a degree in Animal Husbandry. Bill was a cattle buyer for most of his working years and was one of the founding partners of Palo Duro Meat Processing. He retired in 1982 and devoted the remainder of his life to his faith, his family, his philanthropy, and his friends.

He was an active member of the First Christian Church for many years and raised his children in a home filled with love and Christian values. He served on several boards during his retirement years, most notably the High Plains Food Bank. He quietly and humbly assisted many persons in their time of need with no expectation of repayment.

Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Grace Mosley, his father, Fred Mosley, two brothers, Fred and Elbert Mosley and three sisters, Verla Mosley Gowan, Maxine Mosley Narod, and Alta Fern Mosley Munson.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Dixie Lee Reger Mosley, daughter Judy Day and her husband Larry of Amarillo; two sons, Clay and wife Debbie of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Paul and wife Stacie of Amarillo; two sisters; Freida Mosley Faulkner, and Evelyn Mosley Faulkner, two grandsons, Parker Mosley of Nashville, TN and Landon Mosley of Denver, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the High Plains Food Bank and the Ronald McDonald House or a favorite charity.

The family would like to send our sincere thanks to the staff at Bivins Pointe for the personal and loving care that they provided to Bill. He was blessed to be cared for in such a wonderful organization. Also to the sweet CNA Julie Winters, who, on her own time, graciously stayed and assisted with Bill’s care throughout his final hours.
